The visible camera (Sony) provides a very nice high-quality color image during lightning flashes, while the SWIR camera provides constant eyes-on viewing between flashes.  This means one can watch subtle features develop and look for cloud rotation with Goodrich SWIR cameras.  These are things which otherwise can be very difficult to observe in the dark and in real-time.
