Application: Blood Analysis for Glucose with Near Infrared (NIR) Spectroscopy

Goodrich's InGaAs linear arrays are used with analytical methods that provide qualitative and quantitative information on chemical species such as glucose, a sugar that millions of diabetics need to monitor several times a day. In spectroscopic analysis, the presence and intensity of absorption or emission maxima correlate with the presence and concentration of a functional group within the chemical species. For example, glucose has strong absorbance peaks at 1.6 and 2.1 µm. Spectroscopists are able to capture these wavelengths using SUI's extended wavelength linear array modules with sensitivity out to 2.2 µm, or with the LDV linear digital camera using the same module.
